We are announcing the private preview launch of Amazon IoT SiteWise warm storage tier. This is a new service-managed storage tier optimized for cost-efficient, long-term storage and analytical queries. This will allow customer to run analytical queries within seconds of ingestion in order to power BI analytics dashboard and applications that need access to recent data. The Amazon IoT SiteWise warm tier keeps data in an optimized schema to facilitate querying over asset metadata and telemetry data for analytics.
Customers can enable the new warm tier through the Amazon IoT SiteWise storage configuration in console or API. After enabling the warm tier, customers can define a data retention period to specify how long their data will be stored in the warm tier before it's deleted, such as 60 months to maintain 5 years of history. Once warm tier is configured, customers start storing telemetry data using any of Amazon IoT SiteWise ingestion APIs. The warm tier allows ingestion of buffered data needed for analytical use cases using the adaptive ingestion feature, and ingestion of historical data using the bulk import APIs.
This feature is available in all Amazon Web Services regions where Amazon IoT SiteWise is available, including the Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet and the Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD.
