Amazon CloudWatch now supports Metrics Insights in Cross-Account observability allowing customers to query and alarm on metrics at scale from multiple accounts within a region using a central monitoring account.

CloudWatch Metrics Insights is a powerful high-performance SQL query engine that you can use to query on your metrics at scale. Using Cross-Account Metrics Insights, customers can query and aggregate metrics from all their source accounts in a single monitoring account. Customers can also set alarms on any Cross-Account Metrics Insights queries that return a single time series. Customers no longer have to log into individual accounts to monitor and troubleshoot metrics insights queries and alarms. Instead, from a central monitoring account, they can construct queries to aggregate metrics across their fleet of infrastructure or applications and create Cross Account Metrics Insights alarms that dynamically adjust across all their source accounts within an Amazon Web Services Region.

Cross-Account Metrics Insights is now available in commercial Amazon Web Services Regions, including the Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet, and the Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD.

To get started, you first need to setup CloudWatch cross-account observability. Once configuration is complete, please refer to CloudWatch Metrics Insights documentation for further information. Cross-account Metrics Insights queries run in the console free of charge. Standard pricing applies for the APIs and Alarms, see Amazon CloudWatch pricing page for details.
