Amazon IoT SiteWise now allows customers to use the same asset model under different asset model hierarchies in Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet. With this feature, customers can simplify the asset modeling experience by reducing the number of models required to build a virtual representation of their industrial operations. Previously, for the same type of machine deployed in different production sites, users had to create one asset model for each production site model. Now, users can create one asset model and reuse it in all of your production site models.

You will be able to reuse asset models when defining the hierarchy through the Amazon IoT SiteWise console, the Amazon SDK, or the Amazon CLI. For more information on how to create asset model hierarchies, see defining relationships between asset models (hierarchies) in User Guide.

As part of this launch, we have also increased the service quota for the number of asset hierarchy definitions per asset from 10 to 20 and the number of asset models per hierarchy tree from 20 to 50. Visit Amazon IoT SiteWise quotas page for more information.
