With Amazon FSx, you can spin up and spin down file systems on-demand. Amazon FSx offers a range of Solid-State Disk (SSD) and Hard Disk Drive (HDD) storage options enabling you to optimize storage price and performance for your workload requirements. Amazon FSx for Windows File Server offers data deduplication to optimize costs by removing redundant data. With FSx for Lustre, you can choose unreplicated, scratch file systems to further lower costs for shorter-term processing of data and data compression to reduce storage consumption of both your file system storage and your file system backups.

Fast and flexible performance

Amazon FSx supports higly demanding enterprise applications and high-performance workloads. Amazon FSx is designed to deliver fast, predictable, scalable, and consistent performance. Amazon FSx file systems deliver sustained high read and write speeds and consistent low latency data access. You can also choose the storage type and throughput level to best match your business needs.

Available and durable

Amazon FSx runs on the same highly reliable infrastructure used by other Amazon Web Services services, and it offers a variety of deployment options to match your workload’s availability and durability requirements. With FSx for Windows File Server, you can choose from single-AZ or multi-AZ deployment types, depending on your applications needs. With FSx for Lustre, you can choose from scratch or persistent storage for short-term or long-term data processing.

Simple and fully managed

In minutes and with a few clicks, you can launch a fully managed, highly reliable file system. With Amazon FSx file systems, you don't have to worry about managing file servers and storage volumes, updating hardware, configuring software, or performing backups -- Amazon FSx automates these time-consuming administration tasks.

Integrated with Amazon Web Services services

Amazon FSx file systems integrate with other Amazon Web Services services, including Amazon S3, Amazon CloudWatch, Amazon CloudTrail, Amazon KMS, Amazon SageMaker, Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), Amazon Batch, and Amazon ParallelCluster. Using Amazon FSx with these services allows you to more easily develop, deploy, and run your workloads.

Use cases

Migrate your workloads to the cloud

Many organizations rely on the file system features and administrative tooling provided by their existing, on-premises storage technologies. By offering the same like-for-like capabilities and performance, Amazon FSx makes it easy to adopt the agility and scalability of cloud storage for file shares, database, and application workloads without modifying your application code or how you manage your data.

Increase development and test agility

By combining infrastructure-as-code, flexible compute bursting, and Amazon FSx storage, you can quickly spin up development and test environments on demand and rapidly iterate to shorten release cycles. You can also replicate your configuration and resources with cost-efficient, zero-capacity clones - making it faster and easier to develop and test new applications.

Build bleeding-edge machine learning, analytics, and HPC application

Many machine learning, analytics, and HPC applications require highly performant and scalable file storage to support large clusters of compute resources and huge volumes of data. Depending on the file system you choose, Amazon FSx provides a range of cost-effective deployment options that can deliver millions of IOPS with sub-millisecond to ensure that storage never becomes bottleneck for these demanding workloads.

Accelerate Media & Entertainment workloads

Media & Entertainment workloads require high-performance storage that is broadly accessible by end users who create and edit media from a variety of operating systems and by compute-intensive rendering and transcoding jobs.  Amazon FSx storage offers the scalability to deliver your media projects on time and within budget and the flexibility to connect from your Linux, Windows, and macOS environments.

Simplify business continuity

Managing backups and long-term data retention on premises can be complex, time consuming, and costly. Amazon FSx lets you easily and securely backup, archive, or replicate your on-premises file storage to Amazon Web Services in order to meet regulatory, data retention, or disaster recovery requirements.
