Performance Insights pricing
Overview
Performance Insights offers a rolling seven days of performance data history at no charge. This is enough time to troubleshoot a wide variety of issues. The Performance Insights free tier includes:
- Seven days of performance data history
- 1 million API requests per month
To analyze longer-term performance trends, you can increase the rolling performance data history up to two years. Pricing is detailed below
The Performance Insights dashboard in the Amazon RDS Console and Performance Insights flexible retention period pricing will no longer be supported starting November 30, 2025.
After November 30, 2025, the execution plan capture feature for RDS for Oracle and RDS for SQL Server and the on-demand analysis feature in Aurora PostgreSQL-Compatible Edition, Aurora MySQL-Compatible Edition, and RDS for PostgreSQL will exclusively be available in the “Advanced mode” of CloudWatch Database Insights.
You can learn more about how to get started with the execution plan capture and on-demand analysis features in CloudWatch Database Insights in the technical documentation. We recommend upgrading any database instance that will be impacted by this change before November 30, 2025. If no action is taken, your database instances will default to the standard mode of Database Insights after that date. As a result, you may lose access to your performance data history beyond seven days and to the execution plan and on-demand analysis features.
To learn how you can upgrade your instances to CloudWatch Database Insights “Advanced mode” in CloudWatch Database Insights, see Turning on the Advanced mode of Database Insights for Amazon RDS.
Flexible Retention for Provisioned Instances
Open allCustomers can specify performance history retention periods from one month to 24 months. Retention for one month or more is priced per vCPU per month for provisioned instances. The monthly price increases for longer retention periods, and may vary by region.
- If you choose one month of retention, you pay ¥ 10.8587 per vCPU per month. For each additional month of retention (up to 24 months), ¥ 0.457 is added to the monthly price. For example, if you choose two months of retention, you pay (¥ 10.8587 + ¥ 0.457) per vCPU per month.
- Pricing correlates to the number of vCPUs in the instances. For example, a db.r5.xlarge has 4 vCPUs. If you choose three months of retention, the price for Performance Insights retention would be (¥ 10.8587 + 2* ¥ 0.457) * 4 per month.
- For each instance in an Aurora cluster, you can decide separately whether to increase the data retention.
- Retention is metered by the hour, and the monthly price is prorated based on the number of hours the feature is in use.
- Retention of performance data is limited to two years. Pricing does not depend on the actual amount of data stored.
- If paid retention is turned off, performance data older than seven days is deleted. If retention windows are changed, data will be deleted accordingly. For example, if the retention period is changed from five months to four months, the fifth month of performance data would be deleted.
- If you choose one month of retention, you pay ¥ 8.8567 per vCPU per month. For each additional month of retention (up to 24 months), ¥ 0.3727 is added to the monthly price. For example, if you choose two months of retention, you pay (¥ 8.8567 + ¥ 0.3727) per vCPU per month.

Flexible Retention for Aurora Serverless v2 Instances
Open allCustomers can specify performance history retention periods from one month to 24 months. Retention for one month or more is priced per Aurora capacity unit (ACU) per month for Aurora Serverless v2 instances. The monthly price increases for longer retention periods, and may vary by region.
- If you choose one month of retention, you pay ¥2.2142 per ACU per month. For each additional month of retention (up to 24 months), ¥0.0932 is added to the monthly price. For example, if you choose two months of retention, you pay (¥2.2142 + ¥0.0932) per ACU per month.
- Pricing correlates to the number of ACUs for Aurora Serverless v2 instances. For example, if you choose three months of retention for an Aurora Serverless v2 instance with 60 ACUs used, the price for Performance Insights retention would be (¥2.2142 + 2 * ¥0.0932) * 60 per month.
