Amazon MQ now supports RabbitMQ version 4.3

Posted on: Oct 22, 2026

Amazon MQ now supports RabbitMQ 4.3 in the Amazon Web Services China Regions. RabbitMQ 4.3 is a minor version release that adds quorum queue capabilities for applications that need message prioritization, controlled retries and consumer health checks. A quorum queue is a replicated queue type that keeps copies of each message on multiple broker nodes for data safety.

RabbitMQ 4.3 introduces strict priority ordering for quorum queues with up to 32 priority levels, delayed retry with configurable backoff, and per-consumer timeouts for quorum queues. It also adds the consistent hash exchange (x-modulus-hash) as a built-in feature for spreading messages across queues by routing key. This release removes features deprecated in RabbitMQ 4.x, including transient queues, global QoS (a prefetch limit shared across all consumers on a channel) and classic queue version 1. Customers running RabbitMQ 4.2 can upgrade to RabbitMQ 4.3 with a few clicks in the Amazon Web Services Management Console. We recommend reviewing the RabbitMQ 4.3 changes before upgrading.

RabbitMQ 4.3 is available on the mq.m7g instance type in all regions where Amazon MQ is available, including the Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet, and the Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD.
