Amazon DMS Schema Conversion is now available in the Amazon Web Services China Regions

Posted on: Jul 20, 2026

Amazon Database Migration Service (Amazon DMS) Schema Conversion is now available in the Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet, and the Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD. DMS Schema Conversion makes heterogeneous database migrations more predictable by automatically converting source database schemas and code objects to a format compatible with the target database. The conversion includes tables, views, stored procedures, functions, data types, and other database objects, with clear identification of any objects requiring manual conversion.

Previously, customers migrating databases between different engines needed to download and manage the standalone Amazon Schema Conversion Tool (SCT) on a local workstation. With DMS Schema Conversion, you can assess migration complexity, convert schemas, and apply converted code to your target database using the Amazon DMS API and SDK without installing or maintaining separate tools. DMS Schema Conversion supports Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, SAP ASE (Sybase), IBM Db2 for Linux, UNIX and Windows, and IBM Db2 for z/OS as sources, with Amazon Aurora MySQL-Compatible Edition, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL-Compatible Edition, Amazon RDS for MySQL, Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL, and Amazon RDS for Db2 as targets.

DMS Schema Conversion is available at no additional charge beyond the underlying Amazon DMS resources. To get started, see Converting database schemas using DMS Schema Conversion in the Amazon DMS User Guide. Learn more about regional availability, or create a migration project in the Amazon DMS Management Console.
