Amazon Kinesis Video Streams now supports IPv6

Posted on: Oct 8, 2025

Today, Amazon Web Services announce Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) addressing support for Amazon Kinesis Video Streams (KVS). Customers can now use IPv6 address on the dual-stack KVS Streams endpoints to ingest streaming video from millions of devices, ensuring no breaking changes for the existing customers who are using IPv4.

As customers increasingly encounter IPv4 address exhaustion in their private networks, this enhancement delivers much-needed flexibility. Organizations can now seamlessly stream videos using IPv4, IPv6, or dual-stack clients. This advancement simplifies IPv6-based system transitions, ensures compliance requirements are met, and eliminates dependency on costly address translation equipment.

IPv6 support is available in all Amazon Web Services Regions where Amazon KVS is available including the Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) region, operated by Sinnet. To learn more about Amazon KVS, refer to Amazon KVS website and Amazon KVS Developer Guide.
