Starting today, Amazon Neptune supports R6i instances powered by 3rd generation Xeon Scalable processors. R6i instances are the 6th generation of Amazon EC2 memory optimized instances, designed for memory-intensive workloads. R6i instances provide up to 50 Gbps of networking speed, 2x that of R5 instances, and up to 20% higher memory bandwidth per vCPU compared to R5 instances.

Amazon Neptune is a fast, reliable, fully managed graph database service that makes it easy to build and run applications that work with highly connected datasets. Compared to previous generation R5 instances, the R6i instances deliver up to 15% better price performance, powering your graph use cases such as fraud graphs, knowledge graphs, customer 360 graphs, and security graphs.

You can launch R6i instances for Neptune using the Amazon Web Services Management Console or using the Amazon CLI. Upgrading a Neptune cluster to R6i instances requires a simple instance type modification for Neptune engine version 1.2.1.0 or higher. Support for R6i instances is available on Neptune engine version 1.2.1.0 or higher in Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet and Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD.
