Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) now offers customers the option to use Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) while accessing the RDS Service APIs.

The continued growth of the Internet is exhausting available Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) addresses. To use this new capability, point your applications to use Amazon RDS’s new dual-stack endpoints which support both IPv4 and IPv6. In most cases, no further configuration is required, because many network clients will prefer IPv6 addresses by default.

Usage of Amazon RDS’s new dual-stack endpoints is available at no additional charge. RDS support for IPv6 for RDS Service APIs is generally available in Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet, and Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD.
