Amazon IoT Device Management Jobs now supports a new Job execution retry configuration, enabling developers to increase success rates of large scale deployments by ensuring automatic redeployment of failed job executions.  Instead of having to manually identify and redeploy to devices that fail, customers can now define a maximum number of retries in the ‘Job Execution Retry Configuration’ for each Job rollout or deployment, along with the criteria to trigger the retry behavior.

Fleet administrators have flexibility to set the Job execution rety configuration, when they create a Job, update a Job, or create a Job Template from the Amazon IoT Console and Amazon Web Services Command Line Interface. Additionally, fleet operators and technicians can take advantage of this functionality using Job Templates in Amazon IoT Fleet Hub. Customers will not need any additional device side code changes to take advantage of this capability. For customers who have already built DIY Retry mechanisms, and want to continue using them, they can use Jobs the same way they do today. There is no change in pricing, it is based on the total number of Job Executions – whether they succeed or fail.

This feature is available in the Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet, as well as the Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD.
