Amazon Direct Connect makes it easy to establish a dedicated network connection from your premises to Amazon Web Services. Using Amazon Direct Connect, you can establish private connectivity between Amazon Web Services and your data center, office, or colocation environment, which in many cases can reduce your network costs, increase bandwidth throughput, and provide a more consistent network experience than Internet-based connections.
Amazon Direct Connect customers can now use CloudWatch Metrics to monitor and take action on the usage, state, and health of their Amazon Direct Connect virtual interfaces (VIFs).
Until now, customers only had visibility of the connection state, traffic throughput and light levels of their Amazon Direct Connect Dedicated connections. With monitoring for VIFs, customers can now see CloudWatch Metrics for traffic throughput per virtual interface. Amazon Direct Connect customers with Dedicated, or Hosted connections can use the enhanced monitoring capabilities to understand VIF level usage.
