You can now use Amazon IoT Device Defender to collect custom metrics from your devices.

The new capability allows you to monitor operational health metrics that are unique to your fleet or use case. For example, you could define a new metric to monitor the memory usage and CPU usage on your devices. After your devices start sending these metrics to the cloud, you can monitor the metrics and trigger alarms when memory usage exceeds expected ranges or when CPU usage exceeds a statistically significant threshold. Those alerts can be viewed in the Device Defender console or shared through Amazon Simple Notification Service (SNS).

The new custom metrics capability is available in Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet and the Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD. For more information, see Amazon IoT Device Defender documentation.
