Customers can now create Amazon API Gateway HTTP APIs that route requests to Amazon AppConfig, Amazon EventBridge, Amazon Kinesis Data Streams, Amazon SQS, and Amazon Step Functions. With these new integrations, customers can easily create APIs and webhooks for their business logic hosted in these Amazon Web Services services.
Previously, customers could use HTTP APIs to create APIs that route requests to Amazon Lambda functions and any HTTP(s) backends. This release enables customers to build direct APIs that can be used to get configuration information from AppConfig, publish events to EventBridge, ingest data through Kinesis Data Streams, send a message to SQS, or start a workflow in Step Functions.
Integration with other Amazon Web Services services has been a popular feature in the REST APIs product. We have made it easier to setup by offering integration with other Amazon Web Services services as a first class operation. Over time, we will continue to improve and migrate features from REST APIs to HTTP APIs.
These new integrations are generally available in all regions where API Gateway is available, including Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet and Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD.
