Amazon EC2 Introduces Simplified Configuration for Faster Windows Instance Launches
Today, Amazon EC2 announces a simplified process for enabling faster launch times for Windows Instances using EC2 Fast Launch.
EC2 Fast Launch reduces Windows instance launch times by up to 65% through pre-provisioned snapshots. Previously, customers needed a pre-configured launch template or default VPC to enable Fast Launch for their AMIs. The improved process eliminates these prerequisites and creates the necessary resources using an Amazon CloudFormation stack. EC2 Fast Launch now also provisions EC2 managed instances to simplify the management of temporary instances used to pre-provision snapshots, ensuring consistent environments and streamlining image management workflows.
