Today, Amazon Backup Vault Lock is available in Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet and Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD. This new feature enhances customers’ ability to protect backups from inadvertent or malicious actions. It helps customers implement safeguards that ensure they are storing their backups using a Write-Once-Read-Many (WORM) model.
Customers can set up multiple layers of data protection in Amazon Backup, including independent copies of backups across multiple Amazon Web Services China Regions and accounts, separate resource access policies, and long-term data retention. Using a simple setting, they can now prevent any user from deleting their backups or changing their specified retention periods, and have an additional layer of data protection.
Amazon Backup Vault Lock is available through the Amazon CLI and API at no additional cost. Amazon Backup enables customers to centralize and automate data protection across Amazon Web Services services through a fully managed and cost effective solution.
