We are excited to announce that Amazon EC2 Spot instances - low cost EC2 instances - are now available in Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) region, operated by NWCD. Spot instances are ideal for fault tolerant or stateless workloads such as big data & analytics, containers & stateless web servers, batch, high performance computing, CI/CD and test workloads.

In addition, Amazon EC2 simplified Spot pricing by moving to a model which delivers low, predictable prices that adjust gradually, based on long-term trends in supply and demand. You can save up to 90% off the On-Demand instances price and you can pay the Spot price that's in effect at the beginning of each instance-hour for your running instance.

Amazon EC2 Spot Instances allow you to request spare Amazon EC2 computing capacity. Just like On-Demand instances, you can select a pre-configured or custom Amazon Machine Image (AMI), configure security and network access to your Spot instance, choose from multiple instance types and locations, use static IP endpoints, and attach persistent block storage to your Spot instances. Similarly, you pay for each instance by the hour with no up-front commitments.

Amazon EC2 Spot Instances allows you to launch Spot instances via the RunInstances function, run-instances command or Amazon management console by simply indicating you want to use Spot. To launch a Spot instance from the command line, simply specify the Spot for InstanceMarketOption in the call to run-instances command and you will receive an instance ID immediately if the capacity is fulfilled.

All these new features are now available in Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) region, operated by NWCD. You can start using it today using the SDK, CLI or Amazon Web Services console.
