Registration is now open for the updated Amazon Web Services Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional exam. These updates reflect changes in trends, the industry landscape, and the work practices of cloud professionals. If you are preparing for this exam or need to re-certify, you have the option to retake the current on or before March 6, 2023, or the updated Amazon Web Services Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional starting March 7, 2023. This exam will be delivered by Pearson VUE, our test delivery provider, at test centers or through online proctoring, in the following languages: English, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese.

Nothing has been deleted from the current exam outline.  However, some things were changed in the new Amazon Web Services Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional exam content outline (referred to here as DOP-C02 for optimal clarity) and reordered to align with the Amazon Web Services Well-Architected Framework .

Below is a comparison of the current and the new content outlines:

Specific changes to the Amazon Web Services Certified DevOps – Professional exam content outline:

  • Task statement 2.3 from DOP-C01—Apply security concepts in the automation of resource provisioning: Moved to domain 6 (Security and Compliance) in the DOP-C02 exam outline that comprises of the following tasks:
    • Implement techniques for identity and access management at scale.
    • DOP-C02 task statement 6.2: Apply automation for security controls and data protection.
    • DOP-C02 task statement 6.3: Implement security monitoring and auditing solutions.
  • Task 3.4 of Domain 3—Determine how to implement tagging and other metadata strategies: Tagging and metadata are effective strategies for all tasks in the DOP-C02 content outline and not limited to one domain.
  • Domain 4—Policies and Standards Automation: This content is spread throughout domains 2, 3, 4, and 6 in the DOP-C02 exam outline.
  • Domain 6—High Availability, Fault Tolerance, and Disaster Recovery: This content is now moved to Domain 3 in the DOP-CO2 outline under Resilient Cloud Solutions.
  • Normalization of data schemes: This was listed as an out-of-scope activity for the current exam outline, but is an in-scope activity in the DOP-C02 exam outline
